Opis

Permission to Land is the debut studio album by the British glam rock band The Darkness, released on 7 July 2003 in the UK and 16 September 2003 in the US. The album topped the UK Albums Chart[1] and reached number thirty-six on the American Billboard 200 chart.[2] Five singles were released from Permission to Land: "Get Your Hands off My Woman", "Growing on Me", "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", "Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End)" (which only appears on the German Christmas edition), and "Love Is Only a Feeling". "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" was the most successful, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart.[1]
10 things you never knew about The Darkness' Permission to land

Turning 20 this year, The Darkness' classic Permission To Land was like a glittery rocket fired into the heart of the early-00s rock scene. Looking back to 2003, the one album that should have been guaranteed an early grave was The Darkness’ Permission To Land. This was a time when the US modern rock charts were flooded with a very milky and flavourless strain of hard rock, dispensed by the likes of Staind, Trapt, Chevelle and Nickelback, while the dreaded indie landfill scene was kicking into high gear in the UK. Along came this band from Lowestoft — singer and guitarist Justin Hawkins, his brother Dan on lead and rhythm guitar, bassist Frankie Poullain and drummer Ed Graham — wearing bloody catsuits and treating their newfound fame with all of the restraint of Keith Moon at an open bar. Justin’s falsetto — piercing, hyperdramatic and unrelenting — left both critics and fans trying to work out whether The Darkness were serious or if it was all some elaborate satire where the band were the only ones clued in to the joke. cing, hyperdramatic and unrelenting — left both critics and fans trying to work out whether The Darkness were serious or if it was all some elaborate satire where the band were the only ones clued in to the joke.
